If Neo-Nazi’s would march in Vienna with a poster “Hitler wake up”, the left, liberal Viennese weekly Falter would not describe this as “strange demand”, but ask why the police allowed this slogan (a criminal offence in Austria) to be shown unhindered in public…

But when it reported a demonstration organized by anti-imperialist “activists” on June 1st, it found the demand “Hitler wake up” only “strange”.
The big pro-Hamas demonstration in Vienna on June 4th was different from demonstrations in other European cities. One of its main speakers was Omar al Rawi, a Social democratic (SPÖ) member of Vienna local parliament (Wiener Landtag), who is also “Integrationsbeauftragter” (officially responsible for the integration of foreigners) belonging to the Muslim religious community of Austria. Omar al Rawi, who is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, spoke in front of about 10.000 demonstrators shouting “Israel – murderers” who waived “Israel – child killer” banners.
On one of the banners one could read: “Neuer Nazi Israel” – “New Nazi Israel”. On this banner one can see the Israeli flag with a swastika.
Thomas Schmidinger (35), an Austrian lecturer on Political Sciences at the University of Vienna and co-author of a handbook on political Islam in Austria, published in the Vienna daily Die Presse a comment “against the ‘ethicizing’ of politics”. Schmidinger blamed all Austrian parties and wrote about the SPÖ and Omar al Rawi, whose “official position of contact to political Islam is of great importance. His friendly façade always crumbles when the subject matter turns to his real passion, mobilizing feelings against Israel. He has often appeared as rabble-rouser at demonstrations of Arab and Turkish Islamists professing solidarity with Hamas governed Gaza. Last Friday, when I left the National Library, I heard from afar the voice of Al Rawi, raging and ranting against the “open air prison” of Gaza in which “one and a half million people are incarcerated”, that the Palestinian victims “did not die in vain” and that their fight must go on. The angry crowd called Israel “terrorist state” and “child-Killer”. Al Rawi could proudly refer to a unanimous resolution by the Vienna Landtag condemning Israel before his audience with Turkish, Iranian and Hezbollah flags.
One could see or hear at this demonstration Mehmet Turhan, Leader of the Islamic Federation (Milli Görüs associated with Moslem Brotherhood) in Vienna; Jamal Morad, Leader of Muslim Brotherhood in Austria, the Imam of the Hidaya Mosque; Carla Amina Baghajati of the Initiative Muslimische Österreicher (Muslim Austrian initiative), spokesperson of the Islamic community in Vienna; Amir Zaidan of the Islamic Institute for teachers of Islam associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, Tarafa Baghajati, Initiative Muslimischer Österreicher, associated with the Muslim Brotherhood and Adel Doghman leader of Hamas associated Palestinian association in Austria PVÖ.
Fritz Edlinger, President of the Austro-Arab Society, a Social democrat with a long history of anti-Semitic activity Paula Abrams, of ‘Women in Black’ Austria spoke to the crowd; on her right stood Jamal Morad, leader of the anti-Semitic Muslim Brotherhood in Austria; to her left Amir Zaidan, associated with the Muslim Brotherhood .
At the margin of the demonstration one could see two banners “The only rescue of the UMMA is the reconstruction of the caliphate” and “The true protectors of Israel: our corrupt rulers”. I guess, they were wrong to show this in Vienna, as members of the Umma they could try to show such banners in Saudi-Arabia.
Turkey has killed between 30,000 and 40,000 Kurds in the last 30 years; it occupies North Cyprus; it blockades Armenia and denies its own historical genocide. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Sri Lanka, at the same time that Israel was fighting in Gaza (around 1300 dead) killed about 25,000 of its own civilians in the course of repressing an insurgency. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Sudan has killed something in the order of 200,000 people in Darfur, with countless rapes and tortures alongside. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Iran rapes and tortures and murders its own dissidents who ask for democracy; it hangs young gays, it oppresses women. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Yemen is blockading South Yemen, it lets no food, medicine or water through; unlike Israel, which lets around 15,000 tons of supplies into Gaza every week. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Egypt is considering a law to strip their citizenship from any Egyptian who marries an Israeli; it persecutes Copts; it blockades Gaza. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Russia kills 25,000 to 50,000 Chechens, and almost completely razes the capital city of Grozny; its soldiers inflict hideous tortures on their prisoners before killing them; investigative journalists are murdered. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
China killed somewhere between half a million and one and a quarter million Tibetans in the course of quashing Tibet’s independence. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
In Pakistan, Christian churches are burned, hundreds of Ahmadiyyas are killed, Violence towards women is endemic. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
In Saudi Arabia, no churches are allowed, no Israeli Jews may enter, Women are subject to gender apartheid. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Congo: what can one say about Congo? More than that 5 million – 5 million – people have been killed in its wars, alongside innumerable rapes and hideous tortures? But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
France trained and armed the Hutu genocidaires who killed around 800,000 civilians in the Rwanda genocide, and continued to protect them even as they lost power to the incoming Tutsis. But masses of demonstrators are mobilized only against the Jewish state.
Antisemitism manifests itself by applying double standards, by requiring of Israel a behavior not expected or demanded of any other nation.
