IF the three withdrawals of the Israeli army from the West Bank had taken
place as agreed.
IF we were now in the middle of the permanent solution negotiations,
according to the original time-table.
IF we were close to agreement on Jerusalem, the borders, the settlements.
IF we were in a situation of reconciliation with the Palestinian people.
IF we were already in the stage of growing cooperation with most of the
Arab states.
THEN –
We would not live now in a atmosphere of
fear, justified or not, of deadly microbes, poison gas and other means of
mass destruction.
