| Israelische Araber im
Generalstreik
Israelische Araber reagierten mit einem eintägigen Generalstreik auf
israelische Polizeiaktionen und Ankündigungen von Landenteignungen nahe
der arabischen Stadt Um el-Fach'm. Palästinenser im Westjordanland und
im Gaza-Streifen schlossen sich den Protesten an. Die Polizei wurde in
Alarmbereitschaft versetzt.
In Um al-Fachem, einer von israelischen
Arabern bewohnten Stadt südöstlich von Haifa, war es letzte Woche zu
massiven Zusammenstössen zwischen israelischer Polizei und Teilen der
Bevölkerung gekommen. Anlaß waren bekanntgewordene Pläne der Armee, im
benachbarten Ara-Tal Land für die Erweiterung eines Schießstands zu
enteignen. Nach hartem Polizeieinsatz waren Demonstrationen gegen diese
Absicht zu gewaltsamen Protesten eskaliert. Es hatte Verletzte auf
beiden Seiten gegeben. Israels Präsident Eser Weizman besuchte die Stadt
und versuchte die Wogen zu glätten. |

The bloody events in Um-al-Faham, an
Arab town in Israel, mean that the government of Israel is waging war
against its own citizens.
The long-lasting conflict between the
State of Israel and the Palestinian people is turning into a general war
between Jews and Arabs.
The brutal behavior of the police and
the border-police towards the population of the occupied territories is
now being transferred into Israel proper. The same methods, the same lies,
with the same results.
Only a clear and agreed political
border between the State of Israel and the State of Palestine will
normalize the situation of the Arab citizens of Israel, safeguard their
full rights and give all of us – Jews and Arabs - peace and security.
